Vacation Rentals – A Family’s StoryI love to stay in vacation rentals. We have one place that we have vacationed for years. It is located at Lone Oak Point in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Our kids have run up and down the hill to the lake, swam in the pool, and fed the geese there since they were little. Those same kids are now old enough to have kids of their own. This last year when we went, there were two babies crawling around on the floor.  Family Vacation Rentals As my family has grown and changed, my rental needs have changed. We have gone from needing one- three bedroom condo by the play ground, to needing two- three bedroom condos that are close to each other. Hey, the young parents can walk to the playground with their kids. In addition, I now need a condo on the ground floor so my parents don’t have to walk up steps. The walkways need to be wide enough and level enough to accommodate canes and strollers. It is quite an undertaking to get everyone in and settled. But it is so worth the effort. Our favorite vacation rental has a fully equipped kitchen, and linens for the beds. We bring our own towels and toiletries. I always pack extra because someone will always forget theirs. Our favorite condo in this rental group had a journal for all the guests to write about their vacation stay. It was a quiet and relaxing early morning read with a cup of hot tea. So many happy memories have been made in that condo. It is not my condo, and those weren’t my stories, but for a brief moment there was a happy interconnection. Why do we keep going back to the same spot year after year? Well, part of the reason is location. It is centrally located for several different traveling family members. However, some of us travel four hours to get there, so we are passing by other vacation rental spots. The main reasons we keep going back are the property managers. They are like family. They know us by name; they have watched our kids grow up. They send us Christmas cards, and they understand our changing needs. They work with us to get us the right accommodations for our ever changing needs. The second reason we keep going back is I know the pool will be clean. I know the grounds will be well kept. I know the kitchen will be well equipped. I do bring some of my big cooking pans for our huge crew. It is hard to cook breakfast for 18 in a small skillet. I never have to worry about finding a pancake turner or the coffee pot. Our condo is always clean and ready to go. When you are traveling with a family these are deal breakers. My anticipation is next year we will have other family join us. So Terry will be getting a call soon to reserve our 2 condos. My sister and her family are coming, and so are my brother and his family. I guess I’d better buy more swim towels!
